Born in Zagreb, Daniel Šuljić is one of Croatia and Austria's internationally recognised animators of the new generation.

He studied painting and got his animation degree in Vienna (Meisterklasse Attersee at Hochschulle fuer angewandte Kunst), under the tutelage of Hubert Sielecki. Since 2011, he is the artistic director of the prestigious Animafest ZAGREB festival.

In his film retrospective, audience will have the chance to see his student films, starting with his very first Evening Star (1993) and his graduation film, Sun, Salt and Sea (1997).
